  • Expertise Shaped by Experience

    I’m William Richards, founder of EthicsVision International, and for the past two decades, I have helped some of the world’s most high-profile organisations navigate complex ethical challenges, uphold accountability, and safeguard public trust.

    Throughout my career, I have worked across multiple sectors and jurisdictions, managing serious misconduct cases, leading sensitive investigations, and designing robust ethical frameworks. My expertise lies in handling high-risk and high-profile issues in organisations where public confidence is critical to their ability to operate.

    I began my career in London as a detective in the Metropolitan Police, specialising in covert internal investigations into high-level police corruption.

    I then moved into the humanitarian and development aid sector with Oxfam GB and Oxfam Netherlands. I led investigations into corruption and abuse in international aid projects, working in over 30 countries and designing anti-corruption systems that strengthened ethical governance across operations. I trained over 100 regional investigators, equipping them to handle misconduct cases across geographic, legal and cultural boundaries.

    At Transparency International’s International Secretariat in Berlin, I redesigned the organisation’s integrity framework. This was a significant project; working collaboratively with senior stakeholders and staff bodies to ensure the organisation embodies the standards of integrity and accountability it advocates for globally.

    As the BBC’s first Head of Whistleblowing, I built and led a specialist team handling some of the most sensitive misconduct cases within one of the world’s most scrutinised media organisations. I spearheaded strategic initiatives - both internally and cross-sector - to build trusted and effective ‘speak-up’ processes that were accessible to all.

    I hold a Master’s in International Criminal Justice, am an Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist, and have been trained by the International Institute of Criminal Investigations in the investigation of sexual and gender-based violence as a war crime. These qualifications, combined with my professional experience, have equipped me to lead investigations and design ethical frameworks in some of the world’s most challenging and high-risk environments.
